What Is A VIN?

A Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) is a string of digits unique to a specific vehicle. Most vehicles’ VINs can be found under the windshield (near the windshield wipers) or on the door jamb.

Knowing a vehicle’s VIN is especially useful when buying a car as a way to ensure you are purchasing the car you intend on buying. Car buyers can also look up VIN numbers to learn if the vehicle has been in any accidents.
