September 12 2023,
Kia is famed for its high-quality family SUV lineup, but until now their electric models have focused on the compact format. That's about to change with the launch of the EV9, a fully fledged three-row SUV that combines the best of EV engineering with the brand’s signature comfort and technology. Learn more about the model ahead of its arrival in Canada in late 2023.
High-Performance Electric Powertrain
The EV9 is the first Kia EV to feature fourth-generation battery technology that provides higher-energy density for a longer range. This technology is at the heart of each of the available advanced powertrains. The base level offers a maximum driving range of 480 km, with a single electric motor that delivers 200 horsepower and 258 lb-ft of torque sent to rear-wheel drive for a punchy performance. The mid-range models use dual motors to power all-wheel drive, increasing the output to 379 horsepower and 442 lb-ft of torque while still delivering an impressive 435 km range. At the top of the lineup, the maximum torque is increased to 516 lb-ft to produce the strongest acceleration performance, though with a slightly reduced range of 391 km. In all cases, the EV9 is compatible with DC fast-chargers of up to 230 kW, ensuring speedy charging at public facilities. A 11 kW charger enables efficient Level 2 charging at home.
