October 22, 2024 – Dilawri, Canada’s largest automotive group, has launched a program that will offset the CO2 emissions generated by the vehicles it sells in Quebec, where it operates 12 franchised dealerships. On October 18, employees from Greater Montreal dealerships gathered at Ferme Duroseau in Saint-Lin-Laurentides to celebrate the inaugural phase of this new initiative. They planted the first saplings of what will become the Dilawri Forest, which will eventually include more than 800 trees.
A Bold CO₂ Emissions Compensation Program
Dilawri is committed to joining the fight against climate change with a CO2 emissions compensation program that will offset the environmental impact of the vehicles it sells while contributing to environmental protection. Every month, a different Dilawri franchised dealership in Greater Montreal will compensate for the greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions generated during the first year of use for every new vehicle sold.
As part of this program, Dilawri is partnering with Carbone Québec, which will calculate the ecological impact of the new vehicles sold over one year. Dilawri will then provide the financial resources necessary to neutralize this impact through tree planting and the restoration of natural habitats.
Gasoline and hybrid vehicle emissions will be offset through carbon credits (tree planting), while the impacts of electric vehicle batteries will be compensated through biodiversity credits (restoring natural environments). Customers concerned about the environmental impact of their vehicle purchases will be able to choose from the 12 brands offered in Quebec by Dilawri franchised dealerships.
