VANCOUVER, BC (May 7, 2018) - Dilawri Group of Companies ("Dilawri"), Canada's largest automotive group, today announced that they have partnered with the New Relationship Trust ("NRT") Foundation, and over the next three years will provide the NRT Foundation with a yearly $5,000 student scholarship, and an exclusive vehicle purchase program on any vehicles from their BC dealerships. Dilawri will also sponsor the NRT Foundation's Annual Charity Golf Tournament, which is taking place this year on August 3, 2018. Dilawri's partnership with the NRT Foundation is in support of BC's First Nations' education and community.
The NRT Foundation is a charitable non-profit organization, and the largest Indigenous-run education charity in British Columbia (BC). It was created to advance and support the education goals of Indigenous students in BC. The primary focuses are scholarships, bursaries, and First Nations language revitalization. The NRT Foundation has supported 2,028 scholarship and bursary recipients from First Nations communities across BC and it continues to grow each year. This scholarship and bursary initiative helps to create a skilled workforce of Indigenous people in a variety of fields.
"The NRT Foundation is excited to partner with Dilawri, as their support will help to ensure Indigenous education awards continue in perpetuity," said Judith Sayers Chair of the NRT Foundation. "The goal of the NRT Foundation is to create a $30 million endowment that will allow us to be self-sustaining so that students have funding options to turn to for generations. We always hear that post-secondary education of Indigenous people is vital - we have taken on the challenge and we are fully committed to supporting our families and to strengthening our communities."
"Dilawri Group of Companies is proud to support the New Relationship Trust Foundation," said Brad Laviolette, Dilawri Regional Marketing Manager. "Education and community support are extremely important to Dilawri, and our investment in the NRT Foundation helps to enhance learning, and employment opportunities for First Nations graduates."
