Montreal - Dilawri Group is proud to announce a new fundraising campaign for cancer research at the CHUM Foundation. Sunday, June 6, will mark the launch of this campaign, named “Face Off Against Cancer With Guy Lafleur”.
It is with great emotion that Groupe Dilawri and the CHUM Foundation are launching a new fundraising campaign with Mr. Guy Lafleur to support cancer research. The campaign, named “Face Off Against Cancer With Guy Lafleur”, stems from Mr. Lafleur’s deep and sincere desire to team up with the public to make a difference and give hope to all those who, like him, are or will be facing this serious health problem.
The partnership with the CHUM Foundation and Mr. Lafleur is a natural one for us. Teamwork, mutual aid and the excellence of the CHUM teams are at the heart of our values. Having been in Quebec for only a few years, we see this opportunity to give back to the Quebec community. We are honoured to team up with the CHUM Foundation and Mr. Guy Lafleur for cancer research at the CHUM.
"We are very grateful to be able to count on the involvement and generosity of Mr. Guy Lafleur to support the innovative initiatives of the CHUM Foundation. There is no doubt that together we are stronger and that the support of partners like the Dilawri Group is a driving force that allows us to support cancer research with the experts at the CHUM Research Centre, a world leader in the field. Julie Chaurette, President and CEO of the CHUM Foundation, said: "Thanks to the Guy Lafleur Fund and the Dilawri Group, we are able to support cancer research with the experts at the CHUM Research Centre, a world reference in the field.
“Thanks to the Guy Lafleur Fund and The CHUM Foundation, we will support cancer research. Nearly 22,000 people die of cancer every year. At the CHUM, close to 9,000 people are treated for cancer every year. To change these figures, 125 doctors and researchers work on cancer research at the CHUM. But a revolution is underway with the arrival of artificial intelligence to detect cancer earlier, better predict and personalize treatments.” shares Dr. Simon Turcotte, surgical oncologist and cancer immunotherapy researcher at the CHUM.
“Being a patient at the CHUM allows me to see how the quality of care and cutting-edge treatments provided by the CHUM’s team of professionals make all the difference. We’re in good hands. That’s why I’m taking action today to support cancer research and team up with the CHUM, just as I’ve done in hockey throughout my career.” says Guy Lafleur.
About the CHUM Foundation
The Foundation's mission (www.fondationduchum.com) is to provide a complementary source of funding for the CHUM. These funds will work to ensure that the centre maintains its status as a standard-setting and internationally recognized institution for medical treatment, teaching and research. The Foundation du CHUM serves as a catalyst and a driving force in carrying out the CHUM’s mission, with its numerous initiatives, fundraising activities (direct mailings, canvassing of individual donors, private foundations and corporations) and its capital fundraising campaign. It organizes benefit events whose reputation is now established. The Foundation also engages in complementary initiatives (which include the Clinique Santé-voyage) that have allowed it to achieve self-sustainability.
